According to ancient legend...
There was a time when humans all spoke the same language. But one day, they attempted to build a tower that would reach the heavens and bring them closer to their Creator. Their Creator punished their impudence by taking away their common tongue, and scattering them across the world...
Tokyo, 1996...
A freak accident involving a teleportation device causes strange beings to appear in Kichijoji. The people who see them call them Demons. Though the man that causes this accident soon after writes a programme to communicate with the new beings, the event triggers a series of nuclear wars in every region in the world, that eventually leads to the end of civilisation. Some say that a mysterious Demon had attempted to destroy humanity with a nuclear holocaust, causing the nuclear warfare. At the end of the century, humans and demons are still fighting a seemingly endless war.
2024...
A Great Flood drowns out the chaos of Tokyo. Very few Demons survive the flooding, and the people that remain stop fighting each other. Rumours spread through the human population that it was a young man who saved Tokyo.
The 24th Century...
The survivors build a series of underground nuclear shelters to live in, called Homes, and under the guidance of the Seven Philosophers, build a giant tower on the surface of Tokyo. Humanity is on the verge of a resurgence. But the peace is shattered by the emergence of three mysterious obelisks that form a triangle around the tower. Demons once again run rampant in the streets of Tokyo. The people blame the tower for this return of chaos, and begin calling it... Shinjuku Babel.
Shinjuku Babel is a SMT-based game crossed with Pokemon. Rather than the iconic series Demons, our board replaces the Demons with Pokemon. We offer many unique and exciting features:
• Follow the main quest-line and fully immerse in the board storyline.
• Learn the truth behind the destruction of Home II, and find out what these Obelisks are all about!
• Befriend, breed, train, and customise your Pokemon in new ways!
• Create one of five character types; an everyday Human, a Demon, a Fusillade, a human that can fuse with a crystallised Demon at will, a Demonica, a permanent fusion of human and demon, or an Innocent, a humanoid AI designed to assist in the rebirth of Tokyo.
• Crafting system that allows the customisation of equipment items.
• Enhancement system that allows a player to boost the stats of their equipment items.
• Modification slots on weapons and armour allow a player to add new, custom capabilities to these items.
• Unique dice system, in which players roll for damage outputs, instead of success/failure rates, in combat.
• Skill freedom, allowing players to fully customise what their character is capable of.
• Store up to ten Demons (Pokemon) on hand, and twelve more in a Demon Depository.
• Teach your Demons skills they normally would not learn on their own through use of Runes.
• Come face to face with the strongest and most elusive of Legendaries.
• Take on existing side-quests for rewards, or submit some of your own!
• Not ready to take on a real battle yet? That's okay! Fight virtual opponents in the Virtual Training Room, or the VTR, without fear of dying, or just purchase skill books that'll randomly boost one of your skills!
• Real, tangible in-character consequences for in-character actions. Be careful what you play with...
• Optional application - only certain, simplistic sections are required, but you can do the rest for rewards!
• Find a Demon that has a gijinka form, an extra type, or even a different type altogether!
